Namco Museum Battle Collection
Release date: 23 Aug 2005
|
Namco Makes its Way to the PSP
|
At first, I thought Namco Museum: Battle Collection would be just another stupid rehash of Namco’s anthology game. I was wrong. Namco Museum: Battle Collection will actually have new features. Of course there will still be a collection of the greatest Namco titles!
All of the games have gotten enhanced graphics. Pac-Man for example now has what seems to be 3-D graphics, but still sticks with the 2-D gameplay. The camera has also been pulled back, so levels are bigger. If you don’t like the new Pac-Man look, you can always play the original. Galaga hasn’t moved to 3-D, but it has become more detailed. Rally X also has gotten more enhanced, but it is still 2-D and seen from the overhead view. Rally X will also have more enemies and obstacles, thus increasing the challenge.
Namco has announced that Namco Museum: Battle Collection will have 10 exclusive games on the American version. The game will include the following:
Bosconian
Looks kind of like Galaga. You can fly anywhere, but you have to dodge asteroids and mines. Your main objective is to destroy the green space stations.
Dig Dug 2
Looks like our hero has stepped up. Instead of being underground, you are now on an island. You can use your drill to create cracks in the island to demolish sections and rack of points.
Dragon Buster
An adventure sidescroller with RPG elements. The main point of the game: save the princess from a dragon. The levels are maze type caverns you must make your way out of.
Mappy
A platformer/maze type game in which a mouse must recover stolen good from a gang of cats. Gameplay has you bouncing on trampolines to get out of a maze. Crazy lab rat stories…
Motos
It’s sort of like bumper cars. Knock all of your opponents before they can know you out.
Tower of Druaga
Make your way through a maze using your sword and shield, to save your beloved Ki from a demon.
Rolling Thunder
Has you sidescrolling to shoot thugs. It plays like Shinobi, from Sega
Xevious
It’s a vertical shooter in which you must destroy flying aliens that come at you, while killing ground troops with bombs.
King & Balloon
You play as two men holding a crossbow who need to save a king from a series giant balloons who want to steal the king. Pretty straightforward.
Grobda
A tank combat game. The camera is in top-down perspective. Basically, just shoot the tanks before they shoot you.
And for you multiplayer peeps out there, Namco Museum: Battle Collection will be able to play with 4 players simultaneously using PSP’s Wi-FI capabilities. It also supports game sharing so you won’t need multiple copies of the game!
Namco Museum: Battle Collection will be releasing this fall for the PSP. Most anthology collections cost $20, so let’s pray that this will be the first $20 PSP games to come out.
