Metroid Story

well i think the purpose of the voice over would be so we wouldn't have to show her face. but then again, maybe we can see her face threw her green visor. or the voice can be altered so we don't know she's a girl.

I was thinking about the suit, and the Mr. Freezes' suit from batman forever keeps popping into my head. You probably could make a decent looking suit, but it would weigh like 150 pounds, so you'd have to hire some guy to run around in the suit and then fill in the faster actions(like flipping) with cg like they do in the spiderman movies

as for support characters, maybe samus has radio contact with the federation guys at some time in the movie, like she finds a transmiter or something and they fill in major plot points such as what she's supposed to be doing (most likely looking for the metroid larva)

but i think seeing how she looks without her suit would be the major payoff at the end, like the first time you beat the original nes metroid. even if it's like the credits rolling with her removing pieces of her suit or something and you don't see that she's a girl until the credits finish.

The lack of supporting characters is one of the major issues I think the story has for translation into another medium. I used the storyline from the first Metroid game for my script. There is a brief description of the story in the instruction manual from the first game. I used intimations from there. I also put Adam Malcovich into my script. And I made up some other people It is tough.

The suit is another issue. I think the movie should be done entirely in CG. The reason Spider-man worked well using a combination of live action and CG is because the costume is very simple. It is easy for a stunt person to work with. It flows easily from live action to CG. Samus's power suit would not be so easy. Plus, no actress would want to spend so much time behind the helmet. She would want face time. For these reasons, I think it should be done entirely in CG.

I think Metroid could be made into a really cool movie. I hope the John Woo project gets delayed until I can become a well known writer. I REALLY want to write the script for the movie. Even if they don't use my current idea, I think I could do a good job. I just love the series.

Yeah, in my script, whenever Samus is out of the suit, she's naked the entire time. She's actually only in her suit for like 2 lines. It's like the Justin Bailey version of the first Metroid.

I don't think she'd care how she smelled to the metroids and space pirates.

Plus...she'd probably be sweaty and gross, so men wouldn't enjoy her smelly, catheterized (or however it's spelled) body.

Full frontal nudity. It's already written in. Just for Samus though. And all of Samus's girlfriends, during their pillowfight scenes. Oh, and there are a few carwash scenes in there as well.

Well, Ghost, if you wouldn't bring such ideas up, maybe we wouldn't have to deal with them.

I mean it isn't like I talked about their Victoria Secret underwear or using Mr Clean's Car Wash system.

I mean damn man, let's have some decency.

Ha Ha! I have discovered the thread you boys go off to when you want to escape the small number of ladies on the site!

And just so you know - there is no way in hell they are going to stay true to the story or Samus when making a movie. It's just too impractical. What works in video games often doesn not cross over nicely to a movie.

Shit, she found us. Put away the porn. Hide the stash...you know, the stash.

Yeah, I chose to invent a slightly different life for Samus in order to explain a few things. I like the idea of the Federation not knowing Samus is a woman. Some Metroid die hards may not agree with my choice, but I think it works to give her a little more character. Because Katie is right, it doesn't happen often, there isn't a whole lot of conventional story elements in the Metroid series. I do like the ideas suggested by others of making it an unconventional story through the use of little dialogue, internal monologue, and solitary exploration. I'll have to think about that.

While I don't necessarily want to steer the conversation away from cool stuff like naked Samus, I did have something for everyone to think about.

I find movie tagline's very interesting. Often times they are good sources of badassness. So, as we ramble on, if you think of a Metroid movie tagline, post it. I will start.

Imagine the preview voice saying this:

They have a weapon of unimaginable power. Fortunately, so do we

how about you see some people in a ship, and they are being attacked by space pirates, out of nowhere samus comes out and kicks major ass, and the only thing you hear is someone yell out, "Holy shit, it's a chick!!!"
