I have no idea if it will ever get made into a movie or not, but if Metroid were a movie, who would be the best actress to star in it? What would be the plot? Other characters besides the rolling ball of death?

I could go on for a long time about ideas for a Metroid movie. I am not sure if you have been around long enough to hear Darth. When I heard John Woo attached himself to the Metroid movie idea 2 years ago, I wrote a Metroid screenplay with the delusional idea that someone important would eventually read it.

I think it is a pretty good adaption of the first Metroid game and some other aspects of the Metroid universe. The main difficulty in the story is having other characters.

I actually think the movie should be 3D animated. They already have a character design for Samus as well as a talented voice actress. It would be difficult to reproduce a believable looking power suit in real life, and even if they did, it would be even more difficult to have it do acrobatic moves. They would have to use computer animation for that, but I bet the transition between real suit and computer suit would not be as fluid as the digital to real life transitions in movies such as Spider-man or Matrix Reloaded. The power suit is just too complicated in appearance. Also, any real actress would not want to spend the majority of the movie behind the mask, because she would want face time.

Real suits are getting increasingly better, though.

Look at these ones done by amateurs. Imagine what one done by somebody who ISN'T a scrub would look like.

The main problem with adapting the Metroid series into a movie is that it is one of the handful of games/series out there that understand and utitlize videogames as medium; as such, its creative hands in regards to film are tied because of its intrinsic design. A lot of books and plays are like that when translated to film. Another problem is that you would have to come at the Star Wars formula at a different angle or approach and on a smaller scale if you want it to be somewhat successful; else you could make something hackish or something avant-garde.
