I was impressed with the big name games, and I like them a lot, but hype has been pushed beyond realism. No game lived up to its hype, but the best game I've ever played, IMO, probably did come out this year. Not that anyone would know a good game anymore because the hype has skewed...

But in Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, ToS, Chrono Trigger, and pretty much every other RPG ever made you could go into a town, and not have to worry about random encounters, only story encounters. You could go to the inn, item shops, bar, weapon shop, etc and not get attacked by anything...

I don't know how excited I can get over Tom Clancy's Star Wars. This year's big games games convinced me that anticipation is over rated though.

Portability is not a good enough reason to buy a game I already own.

I finally beat the game last night, and I have to say, it's one of the best I've ever played, and I don't usually like FPS. It just has an epic feel to it. Some might be disappointed that it's not the epic Earth saving battle Bungie hinted at with the E3 demo, but it is still an epic battle...
