I kind of used to buy games on release and sometimes even pre-order them. But after some dissapointing experiences like Rome 2, Civilization Beyond Earth, Assassins Creed Unity and Mafia 2, I promised myself to always look for reviews and try to demo the game befor buying it.

Sonic the Hedgehog for the Master System, which was basically the only game I played everyday for 2 years. Then I got a Nintendo 64 and it was settled that I would be a gamer for life.

I kind of feel like OP, the machines feel a little bit too overpriced, and steam link/steam controller seem to be really awesome. But I also think that probably the prices will go down after a little while, so only time will tell :)
