Fallout Movie In the Works?

While flipping through our E3 photo album, MyGamer noticed something that has, to this point, gone unreported.  During the expo, Hollywood big-whig Ari Arad was spotted at E3…attached to an unexpected company.

While the name Ari Arad may not ring a bell, you’ve probably seen at least one of the projects he has worked on.  According to IMDb, he worked as a producer on many of Marvel Comics’s television and movie projects, including Iron Man, Blade: The Series and both Punisher movies.  More recently, he has his name attached to a handful of in-development movies based on video games, including inFamous, Uncharted and Mass Effect.

So who brought Arad into E3?  It wasn’t Activision, publisher of many of Marvel’s video games.  It wasn’t Sony or EA, even though he is working on movies based on their intellectual properties.  It isn’t even Disney Interactive, who may or may not have a strong tie to future Marvel license games.  No, it was Bethesda Softworks, publisher of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls series.

There have been rumbles regarding a Fallout movie in the past.  Before Bethesda obtained the rights to develop Fallout 3, Interplay Entertainment had plans to create a movie based on the series that never came to fruition.  In 2009, Bethesda trademarked the name “Fallout” in movies and television…however there was never any indication that they would do anything with this, outside of protecting the name from being swiped by other parties (which has come up in the past with other licenses).

While there is no official confirmation on a Fallout movie…or any non-video game projects coming from Bethesda, it’s worth keeping an eye on.  Keep your other eye on MyGamer for more video game news.
