E3: Control Xbox Live Vision with your body

Some new details have emerged about Microsoft's Xbox 360 camera – the Xbox Live Vision.

Microsoft has licensed GestureTek Inc.'s video gesture control technology. Vision games will allow players to control them with natural full body gestures. Leaning forward and backward would let players cut across the slopes in a snowboarding game, or sit at a poker table across from other real time images of players from around the world and manipulate the cards with their hands.

"The fusion of GestureTek technology and the Xbox 360 will enhance the entertainment and gaming experience for our customers," said Aaron Greenberg, group product manager, Microsoft. "As the Xbox 360 camera offering enables a more immersive and integrated gaming experience, gesture control will further redefine entertainment."

The Vision camera will also be integrated into the Xbox 360 operating system, allowing gamers to control the Dashboard and other functions through gestures.

No games for the Xbox Live Vision have been announced, so at this point many details are just speculation. But Gesture Control could change the way cameras and videogames interact.
