Club Nintendo May 2014 Summary

Physical Rewards Are Back Along with High Quality Digital Games –

Last month, the Club Nintendo program went through a bit of a change as physical rewards were put on hold while Nintendo was firming up their back end. As a replacement, many more digital games were offered for a limited time. However, physical rewards are now back up and running and four new games are available for the next month.

super_metroid_wiiu

Game #1 – Super Metroid (SNES on Wii U Virtual Console)

Price – 200 Coins, normally $7.99

Availability – May 12, 2014 – June 8, 2014

Summary – If you do not know what Super Metroid is, shame on you.

Opinion – Super Metroid was a part of the Club Nintendo program back in April 2013 and was also offered as a $0.30 download for Wii U owners at one point.

Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Yes if you don’t already own this game.

3ds_classics_kirbys_adventure_

Game #2 – 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure (3DS eShop)

Price – 200 Coins, normally $6.99

Availability – May 12, 2014 – June 8, 2014

Summary – The original NES adventure now outfitted with stereoscopic 3D.

Opinion – Just like the other 3D Classics titles, Kirby’s Adventure now supports 3D but plays just like the original.

Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins?   3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure is the one 3D Classics game that has not yet been available through the Club Nintendo program; this reason alone is worth a purchase. Because this game was released at the very end of the NES lifecycle, this is probably the least played Kirby game. For 200 Coins, this is the (new) sure thing this month as you probably already own Super Metroid and Mario Kart 64.

brain_age_express_arts_letters_3ds

Game #3 – Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters (3DS eShop or DSi Shop)

Price – 200 Coins, normally $7.99

Availability – May 12, 2014 – June 8, 2014

Summary – Blend art lessons with literary puzzles like Word Attack and a Piano Player.

Opinion – Let’s be honest – you either love the Brain Age series or could care less. And as a side note, Brain Age Express: Sudoku was offered back in Aug 2013.

Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Because the other three games offered this month are of high quality, you should probably spend your coins elsewhere.

mario_kart_64

Game #4 – Mario Kart 64 (N64 on Wii/Wii U Virtual Console)

Price – 250 Coins, normally 1000 Wii Points ($10)

Availability – May 12, 2014 – June 8, 2014

Summary – The premier 4-player N64 Kart racer is one of the best.

Opinion – Mario Kart was also available through Club Nintendo back in Jan 2013 so you might already own this.

Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Mario Kart 64 is a fantastic game and should be downloaded and played by everyone, just like Super Metroid.
