Club Nintendo June 2014 Summary

Repeating Kirby –

Nintendo is kicking off E3 week with new Club Nintendo games. June is a little disappointing as Kirby’s Adventure is a repeat from last month and Electroplankton is an app instead of a game.

Reminder, if you have been hoarding coins for the last couple of years they could be expiring at the end of this month so check your account.

electroplankton_rec_rec

Game #1 – Electroplankton Rec-Rec (DSiWare on 3DS)
Price – 150 Coins, normally $1.99
Availability – June 9, 2014 – July 6, 2014
Summary – Use the mic to record sounds then mess around with colors using the touch screen; this is an app versus a game.
Opinion – This app will not hold your attention for very long but it is better than tracking down a copy of the DS original.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Electroplankton Rec-Rec is most likely the one title you have not already played so it might be worth it for experimentation.

kirbys_dream_land

Game #2 – Kirby’s Dream Land (GB on 3DS Virtual Console)
Price – 150 Coins, normally $3.99
Availability – June 9, 2014 – July 6, 2014
Summary – Kirby’s first appearance.
Opinion – Kirby’s Dream Land is a short romp through Dream Land before Kirby started having ability absorbing powers.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins?   If you have not played Kirby’s original adventure, it is worth the history lesson. Otherwise you are probably better off spending your coins on Kirby’s Adventure.

kirbys_adventure_wiiu

Game #3 – Kirby’s Adventure (NES on Wii U Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – June 9, 2014 – July 6, 2014
Summary – Kirby’s forgotten NES game.
Opinion – Last month’s 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure is probably the better version to download thanks to the 3D support and portability but if you don’t own a 3DS, playing this game on Wii U isn’t bad and is still enjoyable today.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – If you don’t mind spending the extra coins and didn’t download May’s 3D Classics version, then you might want to consider this.

mario_party2

Game #4 – Mario Party 2 (N64 on Wii U Virtual Console)
Price – 250 Coins, normally 1000 Wii Points ($10)
Availability – June 9, 2014 – July 6, 2014
Summary – The sequel to the 4-player free for all multiplayer party game.
Opinion – Even though the AI likes to make you lose on the last turn, Mario Party 2 is enjoyable if you can gather a few human players around one TV.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – If you still play same-sofa multiplayer, Mario Party isn’t the worst of choices.
